On December 20, 2020, he was sent to a 30-day judicial remand by a special judge of the NIA. after he was arrested last month and since questioned by the agency in a militancy related case.

On 30 December 2020, a team of Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), a wing of Jammu and Kashmir police, carried out a raid at his home in south Kashmir.

Para had won the DDC polls with a significant margin. However, he wasn’t allowed to take the oath.
