Srinagar: Armed forces launched a cordon and search operation in two villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday morning.

A police official said that columns of army, CRPF and police encircled Keegam and Reshipora villages of the district and started door to door searches.

The operation, according to the official, was conducted after the forces were tipped off about the presence of militants in these villages.

The operations were underway at the time of filing this report.
