Team deputed to investigate matter, says Wildlife Warden Shopian

Shopian: A leopard was killed by locals after it mauled nine sheep to death in south Kashmir’s Shopian on Tuesday late night.

Locals told said that a leopard killed nine sheep belonging to Ghulam Mohammad Mir of Oudur village in Trenz belt of Shopian district.

However, the wild animal was later attacked and killed at cowshed, locals said.

Wildlife Warden Division Shopian Suhail Intesar while confirming the incident to news agency KNO said that a leopard has been killed in retaliation by locals after it killed nine sheep.

He added that a team has been deputed to the area to investigate the matter.
